January 16, 2026 — Great Power, in partnership with Sichuan Zhongfu, has officially commissioned a 107.12MW/428.48MWh behind-the-meter energy storage project, currently the largest user-side energy storage installation in China.

The project is located at the Guangyuan Economic Development Zone Aluminum Industrial Park in Sichuan Province and supports green hydropower-based aluminum production.

Construction began on July 30, 2025, and was completed in just over 100 days. Despite challenging conditions—including soft geological formations and prolonged rainfall, the project achieved full-capacity, safe, and stable grid interconnection on December 30, 2025.

With a charge and discharge power of 107.12MW and a total capacity of 428.48MWh, the energy storage station supplies all stored electricity directly to Sichuan Zhongfu’s electrolytic aluminum production system. By leveraging peak -to-valley electricity price arbitrage, the project is expected to reduce power costs by approximately RMB 140 per metric ton of aluminum, delivering annual electricity cost savings of over RMB 60 million.

In addition to its strong economic performance, the project enhances regional power system efficiency, supply reliability, and load balancing. It is also expected to save approximately 19,700 tons of standard coal annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 52,000 tons, setting a benchmark for the low-carbon transition of energy-intensive industries.
